About me
Welcome to my website! My name is Mariza Halliday, and I am a self-taught artist and mother of three. Originally from South Africa, my family and I moved to Ireland in 2019, and we fell in love with the breathtaking scenery, history and folklore. We decided to put down roots permanently in the idyllic little town of Castlepollard, co. Westmeath.
My passion for painting was reignited during the first lockdown in 2020. Spending so much time immersed in the countryside, I found myself drawn back to my love of art. Painting has become my quiet, peaceful place, and it calms me when the chaos of life gets too much.
Acrylic is my medium of choice, and I love the vibrancy and quick drying aspect of it. Living in one of the most beautiful counties in Ireland, I find inspiration all around me. I am constantly experimenting with new techniques and materials, and I am always pushing myself to grow as an artist.
Painting allows me to express myself in a way that is both personal and universal. I believe that art has the power to transform people’s lives and to bring joy and inspiration to the world.
In my work, I strive to create pieces that are visually stimulating and thought-provoking. I want my art to provoke feeling and inspire people to see the world in a new way. I am particularly drawn to the beauty of architecture and the way that it interacts with the natural world. My paintings often feature bold colours and abstract shapes, and they are full of energy and movement.
When I am not painting, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring the beautiful countryside around Castlepollard. I am an adventurer at heart and love to travel. I am also passionate about giving back to my community and have donated my art to charity auctions and worked with local communities to inspire young artists.
